Vague

She's coming home late again
With another lie
Pushing all the boundaries
I wonder why I try?
Details always sketchy
But they're sprinkled with some facts
I try to ferret out the truth
But get stopped in my tracks
She had to do a thing or two
With that friend from work
She thinks that I'm a simpleton
And shows it with a smirk
(Chorus)
I'm looking for specifics
'Cause I wanna pin her down
I'm asking for acute
Where obtuse is to be found
Precision is the goal
But I cannot seem to score
Her answers are so vague
Yet too hard to ignore
I try to form a picture
From the details she lets slip
But the pieces of the puzzle
Well they never seem to fit
I thought we were in love
But it seems the jokes on me
Questioning the level
Of her infidelity
One and one no longer
Add up to the sum of two
There's a joker in the deck
And it might as well be you
I never thought I'd spend my life
As a private eye
Trying to corroborate
A basket full of lies
(Chorus)
I'm looking for specifics
'Cause I wanna pin her down
I'm asking for acute
Where obtuse is to be found
Precision is the goal
But I cannot seem to score
Her answers are so vague
Yet too hard to ignore
She's coming home late again
With another lie
Pushing all the boundaries
